I love having resources there when I need them. You know how it goes, you get a bowl of cearel poured and go to get milk to put in it, only to find that someone put it back in the fridge empty. I love the verses 6-8, of Proverbs 2;
For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
guarding the paths of justice
and watching over the way of his saints.
The Lord stores up wisdom for us, not just any wisdom but sound wisdom. The Complete Jewish Bible puts it this way, “He stores up common sense for the upright”. “He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.” is how the New Living puts it. So part of God’s riches that He has for us is wisdom.
If it is stored up then how do we get it?
In James 1:5, we find the key to getting wisdom.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
What a good Father to give us what we need when we ask for it and not be upset with us for asking. Not only that He is our protection. Watching over us to make sure that our paths are clear of danger and stuff that might cause us to stumble.
I don’t think I have ever read this scripture in either of those translations, love both versions. Wisdom is something I continually praying for, I always need it!
