Have You Lost Strength?

In the midst of our daily life struggles, it is easy to take our eyes off Jesus. If Peter can do it while walking on water, what makes us think that being on dry land we are stronger. Either way, we lose our strength.

If you faint in the day of adversity,
    your strength is small.

Proverbs 24:10

That is when doubt creeps in dragging along its twin, fear. Doubt creeps in when we start looking around at what is going on. Comparing ourselves to others. Then it brings fear with it. No one will like it. What will people think? I can’t write like… Fear is the bully of the two. Fear will stop us from doing what God wants us to do.

Isaiah 43:1b-3a, is one of my favorite verses on fear;
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.
For I am the Lord your God,”

Last week Skillet came out with a new single. I hear it all the time in a loop, because of my two boys playing it. It starts out talking about a target on our backs then moves to how He makes us “Feel Invincible“. One of the ways it talks about our fight song. The above passage is a great fight song for fear and doubt.

When we feel our strength failing, let’s remember Isaiah 40:31;

but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Waiting is the hard part because we live in a world of instant gratification. Our cell phones do not charge a full battery the minute we plug them in. Why do we expect the LORD to do things immediately when we want it.
