I have always been in love with the Proverbs 31 Woman. Being her is a different story. Even burning the candle at both ends it seems to be an impossible achievement. So, let’s break it down and see what we find.
Most commentaries agree that King Lemuel is Solomon. That would means this is Bathsheba’s teaching to Solomon as he grew up. In verses 1-9, she is preparing him to be king. Then in verses 10-31, we find the Impossible Woman or is she? Each verse in the order of the Hebrew alphabet starts with a different letter. There are a couple of possibilities for this. One is that it is a poem written by someone else. The one that I lean towards is that it is a teaching lessons from Bathsheba to Solomon in what he needs to look for in a wife.
She still looks like she would have to have superhuman powers to achieve everything that she does. Here is the hope to being the Wife talked about in Proverbs 31, it covers her whole life. Now isn’t that a mind blowing twist! Instead of cramming everything into everyday of your life it is a lifespan as a wife.
I know some of the things listed like; shopping for the best deals, make sure the family is clothed and fed are basic day to day life. However, if you have little kids there is little time to look for property and plant and take care of a vineyard.
The main thing about the Proverbs 31 Wife is that no matter what time of life she is in, she is always busy. Her speech is covered with wisdom and grace. Take heart that you don’t have a vineyard and be the best at your season of life you are in.
