Only Elohim could have planned today’s reading of Psalms 47 and the results of UK’s Brexit vote. There has been a lot said of doom and gloom, war and finacial colaspe if Britian leaves the European Union. Yet, when we woke up this morning the British people chose to leave. Why? They did not like having an outsider tell them how to live their lives.
Matthew Henry has this to say about verses 7 and 8:
Of the kingdom of providence. God, as Creator, and the God of nature, reigns over the heathen, disposes of them and all their affairs, as he pleases, though they know him not, nor have any regard to him: He sits upon the throne of his holiness, which he has prepared in the heavens, and there he rules over all, even over the heathen, serving his own purposes by them and upon them.
As these are days of uncertainty and all we can do is watch things unfold, let us praise God for He is in control of the rulers of the Earth and all is under His control.
Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples!
Shout to God with the voice of triumph!
For the Lord Most High is awesome;
He is a great King over all the earth.
He will subdue the peoples under us,
And the nations under our feet.
He will choose our inheritance for us,
The excellence of Jacob whom He loves. SelahGod has gone up with a shout,
The Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the earth;
Sing praises with understanding.God reigns over the nations;
God sits on His holy throne.
The princes of the people have gathered together,
The people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
He is greatly exalted.Psalms 47:1-9
