Book Review-Unashamed & Giveaway

Shame comes at us from every angle of life. whether it is from strangers, friends, family or just feeling guilty about somrthing. Although shame is more than just guilt, a point that Heather Davis Nelson beautifully points out in the book “Unashamrd”.

This is one book I wish I had a long time ago when I was dealing with shame from verbal and emotional abuse from my dad. Yet, even now it help me in ways I was not expecting. I was avle to identify and feel relief that what I had felt was not abnormal. Shame can rear it’s ugly head in any part of out live in anyway.

One of the things that stood out to me more than before was how Jesus knows what we are going through. He willingly chose to feel every thing that we feel.

The added help of the thought provoking questions at the end of each chapter are extremly helpful in working the shame out of your life. You can go through this on your own or in a small gtoup encouraging each other as you let go of the shame that is keeping you from being who God has made us to be. Shame is not apart of God’s plane for us.

  1. Sounds like a book I could benefit from. My shame has been dealt with at the Cross as well but the book may have benefits for my clients. And yes, shame pops up as an out of the past experience even when I know it doesn’t belong. Just the enemy working hard to drag us down.

  2. Beautiful…I have a friend who ministers to sex workers, she goes right into the clubs and takes things (baskets with baked goods, bibles, goodies) to the workers and they do find Jesus and a better way of life … they need a book like this. God bless, andrea
