A Little Encouragement

Do you feel like the world is going down the drain? Like Jude said a couple thousand years ago it is a sign of the end of time. Even David had that problem during his lifetime.  When you look at Psalms 27 and Jude 17-23 there are a lot of similarities.

  • The wicked are out there. Jude 18 and 19, Psalms 27:2 and 3
  • Seek the Lord. Jude 20 and 21, Psalms 27:4
  • Be in prayer. Jude 20, Psalms 27:7
  • Stay in the love of the Lord. Jude 21, Psalms 27:10
  • Wait for the Lord. Jude 21, Psalms 27:14

All this may seem good but there are times when it seems impossible to do. When you are at the end of your rope and have to wait for the Lord, what do you do then?  The key is found in music and singing spiritual songs to Him even if you don’t have a voice. By singing it send the enemy into a panic and uplifts our spirit. Just look at what Paul said in Colossians 3:16,

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

I don’t believe that we have to sing the hymns that were written long ago, although there are times that they can help. New songs like recently released Stars by Skillet can help us to remember if God can hold the stars in their place, He can hold us when we feel like giving up.

  1. I agree with you that worship through singing songs of praise is a key to developing that heart that says God will get me through this! Worship has been a huge part of me ever since God saved me from the wreckage of my life. Skillet happens to be my 8 year old’s favorite band! 😉

    1. We will be using their new song Loins in our kids worship next month. The theme is circus and the virtue is trust. Skillet hit it on the nose there.
