As we walk along the path on this Earth one thing is for certain and that is the uncertain. None of us know what tomorrow will hold. I was planning to do just the High Priestly Prayer that Jesus prayed for us until I started studying it. The first thing John 17 starts off with is, “When Jesus had spoken these words…”. WHOA! Wait what are the words that Jesus had just spoken? So I started going back and back until I came to John 13.
This is the chapter of the Last Supper. Jesus had gone and washed the disciples’ feet, announces that He will be betrayed and Judas leaving to betray Him. In the last part of chapter 13, Jesus starts a long teaching that ends in chapter 16. It is, “these words…” that we will look at ending up with the High Priestly Prayer, which is the last thing Jesus did before leaving the Upper Room.
Next week we will look at the end of chapter 13. I will post a reading plan on Sunday for that week’s reading.
Together we will find out what encouragement Jesus left for us as we wait in this uncertain world for His return.
