It Is Not What You Know But Who You Know

Have you seen the bumper sticker that goes something like this, The one with the most toys wins!?  Maybe you know someone that is always getting the newest and best of electronic gadgets on the shelf. I have to confess my boys have the latest PlaySstation, only so they can spend time with their uncle, who lives in California. It doesn’t really bring contentment when there is someone camping where you spawn in at and kill you as soon as you spawn, nor when you get attacked by a swarm of zombies and die. That is not why they play, they play for their relationship their uncle.

All the money, cars, houses, not even chocolate or coffee can bring true contentment. In Luke 12:15, Jesus said;

“Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

The satisfaction my boys get in playing on the PlayStation is spending time talking to their uncle and ganging up with their uncle against each other.

We are created for relationships. The most important relationship is the one with our Heavenly Father. Like any relationship it takes time. It happens to be the most satifying relationship we can have. As we draw closer to God the more we want to seek His righteousness. In Matthew chapter 5, we have the BeAttitudes, take some time and read them in the Amplified version, it will put them in a whole new light. Let’s look at verses 6 together.

Blessed [joyful, nourished by God’s goodness] are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness [those who actively seek right standing with God], for they will be [completely] satisfied.

Did you catch that? Those who are actively seeking God’s righteousness will be nourished by His goodness to the point that we will be completely content and full of joy. Who wouldn’t want that in a world of strife?
