Trying to find contentment in a world that is full of chaos and turmoil is nearly impossible. That is if you are trying to find it in the things of this world. Fame and fortune can lead to loneliness, despair and even death, as we have witnessed with some of the celebrities.
So how do we find contentment? In Isaiah 26:3, we see the key to peace/contentment is,
You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
By keeping our mind, our focus on God we will have His peace. For when we focus on Him our and in His Word, our trust for Him grows. In Philippians 4:8, we are given a list to help us focus on him.
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
Much of being content is our mindset. I have noticed that when I pay attention to what is going on in the news my spirit feels depressed and sick. When I stay away from the news I am in a lot better state of mind. So let’s follow the advice of Philippians 4:8, to help with being content.
Good points. It is truly hard for some people to find contentment in this world. The only contentment for the heart, mind and soul can be found in Jesus Christ.

These verses are in my Jesus Calling devotional today! It’s so true that a concrete focus on Jesus is the only thing that can bring us true peace. Well done!

I love it when God works like that to get a message across to us.

I love Philippians 4:8! It’s one of my favorite scriptures, (I have many of those!) I do pay attention to the news, but in the end I know God is in control, so it never gets me down.
