It’s A Boy

Just as He said, God visited Sarah and opened her womb. So at 90-years-old Sarah had a baby boy and Abraham was 100. I wonder as she was going through childbirth if her focus was on the promise God had given her to get through the pain? Did she get to the point where she wanted to give up? Was Hagar attending her with the delivery or was there someone else who helped her?

Sarah must have found the fountain of youth because I don’t think she was chasing Issac around using a walker. King Abimelech was warned by God to return Sarah to her husband earlier in the year. It was with joy and laughter Sarah raised Issac. The thought of doing what she was doing at her age tickled her fancy. God had done the impossible, even when she had thrown a monkey wrench into the middle of God’s plans.

Oh, that monkey wrench, how Sarah wished she had stayed out of God’s way. Now that woman’s son was laughing at her son’s party. She didn’t want him around, influencing her son or sharing what was his inheritance. Sarah told Abraham to get rid of them. God told Abraham that He will take care of them, for it is better to have a happy wife and a happy life.

God will keep His promise to us no matter how ridiculous it may sound. I know when He first told me to write, I was yeah right. Then when He told me to write fiction, I was like, “Look I don’t know how to write fiction.” Now I’m about a third of the way through with my book. He just keeps on giving me the words to write.

What has He promised you that seems impossible? He will keep His promise.

  1. Love this reminder from Sarah’s life that God DOES keep his promises. There are things in all of our lives that He has promised. For me, I will hold Him to it! He promised me, He will deliver, no matter how it looks at present. Thank you!

  2. Oh, yes. God keeps his promises… but it’s up to us to wait on His timing… I have three Scripture verses at my bedside that I’ve been waiting on for a few years. I know He is faithful. Now I need to be faithful to Him. 🙂
Wonderful post – I never really thought it through on how Sarah’s experience as being an “older” mother (ahahaha) would have gone… I’m only in my 50’s and chasing our grandboy is almost not happening… 🙂
