Aim For The Moon…

Have you ever been caught in the trap of perfection? Maybe you got caught up trying to live up to what you thought someone wanted you to be? No matter how hard you tried to measure up to that you always seem to come up short. With God, we can aim for the moon but go beyond.

Perfection is coloring inside the lines not going outside. No matter how hard you try, you will no be able to measure up to what you think people want you to be. This is especially true if you are trying to please someone that is a perfectionist.

Growing up, no matter how hard I tried or what I did I could never do anything to please my dad. When I started practicing Moonlight Sonata he said I would never be good enough to play it. I painted a ceramic plaque for class. The night before I turned it in for a grade, while I was asleep, he put his touches on it because I didn’t do it right according to him.

To all perfection I see a limit,
but your commands are boundless.                                                                                      Psalm 119:96 NIV

People say that God is a killjoy. He wants to keep you from having fun. You are a puppet if you follow Him.

What kind of parent would allow their child to keep doing something that is an endangerment to the child? How many times have you heard growing up that is hot don’t touch? May you were going to stick some keys or scissors in an electric outlet and got in trouble doing that. Don’t forget to look both ways before you cross the street. These are instructions parents give to their children to keep them safe.

Our Heavenly Father like all parents knows what is best for His children. He has set some rules for us to live by that are to protect us from being hurt. When we follow those laws for living then we are free to be ourselves. We can become who He created and gifted us to be. No longer striving to be someone we are not when we try to please people around us.

Aim for the moon but go beyond with God. Be yourself!
