Have you ever cried out to God, wondering if He sees what all is going on with you? There are times that we feel in over our heads with what is going on whether it is personal trials or what is happening in the world around us. Sometimes it seems like evil always wins and God is not doing anything to stop it.
David felt that way many times. We see him crying out to God to take notice of his plight. As we look he doesn’t stay stuck focusing on the negative instead, David focused what he knew to be true about God. Testimonies of God from those who he has worked in their lives and the witness of what He has done not only in their lives but in David’s own life. Let’s look at what David found to focus on when he felt God wasn’t watching what was going on in his life.
First, the testimonies of what God has done, doing, and will do are the same forever. The writer of Hebrews in chapter 13 verse 8 echoes David. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Another thing that David knows about these testimonies they are founded, fixed, set, and sure. Check out James 1:17 AMP; “ Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes].”
Time and time again David had heard the stories of God’s deliverance from those who don’t follow God and seek to oppress His people. One of the testimonies that David would have to focus on would be that of Moses. How God protected and provided for him as an infant/child, guided him as he wondered after being kicked out of Egypt, helped him to deliver the Children of Israel from Egypt, and instructed him as he led them through the wilderness.
God is the Giver of life. In Genesis, there are several accounts besides creation we see God providing life; Noah, Abraham & Issac, Joseph…just to name a few. In Exodus, He provided life-giving food and water to the Children of Israel. In David’s own family, Rahab was given a new life when she and her family were rescued from Jericho. Ruth’s life was redeemed from what could have been one of poverty and strife.
David knew that the life God gives comes from His love. Generations later David’s offspring, God’s only Son, came to give His life that we could have eternal life. John 3:16 AMP, “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He[even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
