God’s Ways

When I pass by an abandoned house on a road trip I like to imagine what life was like inside the crumbling walls. Then I start wondering what caused the people to leave.

Jerusalem was left desolated not just the buildings but the land. God turned His back on Judah since they had turned their back on Him. He sought to punish the generation and who is able to argue with God as to how He should do things?

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9 ESV

God poured out His wrath on Judah’s disobedience, idol worship, and the refusal of repentance. When we come to Jesus as our Lord and Savoir, we are no longer appointed to His wrath.

For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

1 Thessaloians 5:9-11 ESV

So let’s keep encouraging each other in the Lord, something Judah failed. in.
