You may feel like Jeremiah did, that everyone was against him, making him out to be a joke. People can be mean when it comes to allowing one to live out their Christian faith. They may say they are tolerant but don’t you dare say anything about Jesus. There are Christians all over the world that are in prison for the name of Jesus. You might say that in America there is no persecution. But there is, every day someone will say something negative about Christianity. If the remark was made about other religion it would be called out for being intolerant BUT it is ok because it is about Christians.
My husband was having a nice talk with his dad about the microchips when they first came out. Then my husband said that the Bible hinted there might be something like that. His dad got up and left him about five miles away from home in the 115-degree heat. He called and started walking home while I got the boys in the car and headed to pick him up with water.
Should we be surprised by such treatment?
When Jesus washed the disciples in John 13:16 ESV, He said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.” A couple hours later He reminds them what He said then expounds on it more in, John 15:18-21 ESV, “ “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me.” He was preparing them for what was to come.
Just because we are not in jail we can still face persecution in our daily lives.
