Are You Tuned In?

As we look at what God has to say to King Josiah’s sons, the main thing was they didn’t listen what He had to say in the past nor to what Jeremiah told them. They sought to do things their way and not at all to God’s way.

Thing is we get that way too. We get busy, set in our or the way of the world, focused on how we want things done…that we shut God out. No longer are we tuned into Him. It is like listening to a radio station in the car on a long trip. The further you get away from the stations antenna the harder it is to hear until you are so far away that there is nothing but static and you search for something anything to listen to. When you do find something it may not be what you want or like but you listen to it any ways because it is the only thing you can find in the middle of nowhere. Soon you find yourself following after that music even if you can find what you really like because you have become acclimated to it. When we start following after other things than God we no longer are in tuned to what He has to say. There is too much noise in our lives to hear His still small voice speak to us.

Busy Schedule

Social Media

Television

Games

Work

Car

Feelings

Emotions

Illness

You name it. If it is something that you do instead of spending time with the Lord then you might need to take a break from it and use that time to tune in back with God.

Set a time to read your Bible.

Play worship music in the background.

Take a social media fast.

Turn off the television.

Eat proprely and drink water.

Get others to pray for you.

Check the company you keep. Do they build you up or tear you down?

Paul tells us in Philippians 4:8, how to stay tuned into to God. I love how the amplfied put it.

Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].
