I don’t know if I could leave my family to go somewhere with a servant of the family looking for a bride for a man I haven’t even seen a picture of. Rebekah was given the opportunity to do just that and willingly went with the servant to do just that. When she left she took her nurse, someone who had taken care of her most of her life, and her maids. Growing up I always thought she was alone. Her family was rich enough to have servants. Yet, Rebekah went to the well to get water not a servant. This could have been something she grew up doing as a child and continued to do it as part of her daily routine.
This week as you read about Rebekah look to see what she did that was different from what you thought about her story. What reasons directed her? What would have happened if she didn’t do what she did?
