We all have heard the story of Elijah and the widow’s olive oil jar which always stayed full. Let’s take a look at the back story in 1 Kings chapter sixteen. It starts off with at list of kings each worse in the eyes of the Lord than the one before. Ending with Ahab who was the worst of them all. He built his capital in Samaria. Married Jezebel. He allowed Hiel to rebuild Jericho with total disregard to what Joshua said in Joshua 6:26. Hiel lost both his oldest son, Abiram and his youngest son, Segub.
Now in chapter seventeen we see God has had enough of Ahab. Time to find out what happened.
