Returning To What You Know

There are several different types of migrating birds, from the Canadian Geese that fly in a V formation to the dread Grackle that ascends onto the town like a scene out of a horror movie. Then there are the Swallows that return to the mission at San Juan Capistrano in California, every year. The celebration of the Swallows return has been happening since the early 1930’s. God has placed it in these birds when to fly to one end of their habitat and when to return to the other end.

However, not so with us humans. Some of us leave the path that God had placed us on. A path that brought us joy and peace. We leave it for something that was shiny and glittering with a promise of being better than where we were at. We get stuck in the snare and give up on fighting it because of the promise of something better. A new way to God, so they promise.

We have a hard time returning to God. We don’t want to admit we were wrong. Pride takes control and develops a big gap between God and us. All we have to do is humble ourselves and return back to God.
